Snogerup, Sven
Studies in the aegean flora VIII. Erysin sect. cheiranthus a. Taxonomy / Sven Snogerup [LIB]. -- Copenhagen : Council for Nordic Publications in Botany, 1967. -- (Opera Botanica / Council for Nordic Publications in Botany; 13)

A taxonomic account of Erysimum sect. Cheiranthus (L.) Wettst, is given, with some remarks on cytology, sterillity barriers and evolutionary situation. The former genus Cheiranthus is treated as part of Erysimum. An analysis of the question of generic delimitation is given, resulting in the conclusion that there are neither any good distinguishing characteristics, nor a perfect sterility barrier between the genera Erysimum and Cheiranthus.
Descriptions, figures and distribution mapas are given for the following taxa recognized in sect. Cheiranthus...
The normal chromosome number of all the above-mentioned taxa is 2n=12. Exceptional spontaneous polyploids and heyperploids have been found.
The distribution of the wild taxa is limited to Greece and includes the southern part of the mainland and the Aegean islands. All the wild species occur in a comparatively small number of small, isolated populations. The complex taxonomic situation and the great variation present even within the recognized taxa are considered to have arisen as the effects of genetic drift in the small, isolated populations.
The new combination Erysimum arbuscula (Lowe) Snog. comb. nov. is made for a species of sect. Cheiroides DC. from madeira
