Paracymothoa oliverosae sp. nov. (Isopoda : Cynothoidae) parasite of Holoshesthes pequira (Pisces : Characoidei) from the middle Paraná River

  Se describe e ilustra a Paracymothoa oliverosae sp. nov. en base a material procedente de la laguna El Tigre, ubicada en el tramo medio del río Paraná (31° 41´S; 60° 42´W). Los isópodos fueron hallados en la cavidad bucal de Holoshesthes pequira. P. oliverosae se diferencia de las especies conocidas por poseer anténulas de mayor tamaño y con un artejo más que las antenas, por la forma del céfalon y el maxilipedio, y por el tamaño del cuerpo, intermedio entre P. parva y P. astyanactis.


A new species, Paracymothoa oliverosae, is described and illustrated. The hosts, Holoshesthes pequira, were caught in El Tigre Lagoon (31° 41´S ; 60° 42´W). The isopods were found in the buccal cavity of the fishes. P. oliverosae differs from the previously known species in the size of antennulae, which are broader and with one more article than the antennae, the shape of cephalon and maxilliped, and in the body size, which is between P. parva and P. astyanactis.
