Abstratc:
Bryconamericus Thomasi Fowler (1940) is shown to be a valid speices, and its presence in northwester Argentina is confirmed.The geographic distribution is analized, and a detailed redescription of the species, including new anatomical data, are provided. B. thomasi can be distinguisehed from B. iheringi, which is a morphologically similar and geographically close species, by a combination of meristic and morphometric characters. These include sexually dimorphic modifications of the anal fin in adult specimens.
