  Abstract:
An account of the fish fauna of the Humedales del Este, a World Reserve of Biosphere in the coastal Atlantic plain of Uruguay, and karyotypes of some species are studied in this paper. Comments about new recors and enlargements of geographical distributions are presented, together with cytogenetic information of species found in the area.
