  Diagnóstico histopatológico de aborto bovino por Neospora caninum / W. J. Lértora ; A. Burna ; M. S. Catuogno

  Resumen:
El objetivo del presente trabajo fue estudiar los aspectos anatomopatológicos, histopatológicos e inmunohistoquímicos de un feto bovino abortado por Neospora caninum. El feto, de 5 meses de gestación, provenía de una vaquillona Holando Argentino, perteneciente a un tambo del Municipio de Riachuelo, Provincia de Corrientes, Argentina. El examen histopatológico evidenció severa encefalitis necrotizante multifocal no purulenta, hepatitis difusa y miocarditis multifocal, ambas no purulentas. En cortes de tejido encefálico coloreadas con hematoxilina y eosina se observaron
numerosas formas quísticas de protozoarios. El examen inmunohistoquímico reveló estructuras quísticas y taquizoitos de N. caninum en diferentes cortes de tejido de áreas basales del encéfalo. La neosporosis bovina es una enfermedad parasitaria abortiva que está presente en el nordeste argentino, debiendo incluirse en la lista de diagnósticos diferenciales de enfermedades reproductivas del bovino. Para su diagnóstico es indispensable el estudio
histopatológico del feto.
Abstratc:
The aim of the present work was to report the anatomopathological, histopathological and immunohistochemical findings of a bovine fetus aborted due to the infection of Neospora caninum. The fetus, 5 months of gestation, belonged to a Holando Argentina cow from Municipality of Riachuelo, Corrientes, northeastern Argentina. The histopathological examination showed severe multifocal necrotic and not suppurative encephalitis, diffuse hepatitis and multifocal myocarditis, both not suppurative. Numerous cyst forms of protozoan were observed in encephalic tissue colored with hematoxylin and eosin. The immunohistochemical examination revealed cyst structures and tachyzoites of N. caninum in brain’s basal areas. The bovine neosporosis is an abortive parasitic disease, which is present in northeastern Argentina. It should be included in the list of differential diagnoses of bovine’s abortive diseases. For its diagnosis, the histological
examination of the fetus is essential.
